Perform the following steps to create digital certificates that secure communication between agents.

  1. Using Windows Explorer, open the install_folder\bin directory.
  2. Locate and open the vemkcert.bat file.
  3. At the prompt, type Y, press Enter, and close the window.  A random generator creates a unique seed for the creation of the new certificate. The new certificate is stored in the bin directory in the .keystore file.
  4. Copy the .keystore file from the bin directory to the install_folder\manager directory and the install_folder\guiserver directory on the Manager Server host.
  5. On a distributed system, copy the .keystore file from the bin directory to the install_folder\agent directory of each of the Agent Server hosts. All .keystore files have to match for VigilEnt Security Agent for Web Servers to run.
