symptom
Altiris Software stopped working once the VigilEnt Security Agent for Windows was installed.

cause
The VigilEnt Security Agent for Windows deletes XML and XLS registry keys upon installation and removal. This interferes with Altiris software because they share the same registry keys.   The unregistration of msxml3.dl, which is part of the installation, causes the reg.keys to be removed.

fix

This is a known issue and has been resolved in VigilEnt Security Agent for Windows 3.1.  The msxml3.dll was made a permanent part of the installation.  To download the upgrade click the following link:
