fix

The Baseline utility lets you analyze hosts for file and directory changes. The Baseline utility detects changes by comparing an object?s expected attribute values with the object?s current attribute values. When differences are detected, the Baseline utility displays the differences in a Baseline report and has the capability to send the Baseline report by e-mail to a recipient that you specify.

When you are ready to check the files and directories for changes, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Baseline File System utility and click File.

  2. Check Baseline.

  3. In the Check Baseline dialog box, select all of the hosts you want to check, and then click Check. A status window appears that shows the Baseline File System utility?s progress.

  4. When it is finished, click OK to continue. The Baseline File System utility automatically sends Baseline Reports to recipients that were specified in the policy set if changes were detected in files or directories.

If you did not specify a recipient, or if you want to view the Baseline Report on the console, follow these steps:

  1. Click File | View Baseline Report.

  2. Select a host or hosts in the View Baseline dialog box that appears, and then click View. The Baseline Report window opens in your Web browser and displays the file status and an attribute table for each file that has attribute changes.

note
The Baseline utility includes new file and directory baseline attribute checks, such as file shrinking and file growing checks.
