Resolution

goal
Do I need to create two entry rules to allow access to objects in a specific library within the Integrated Files System (IFS)?

fact
VigilEnt Security Agent for iSeries 5.4/7.0

fix

Only one rule is needed in VigilEnt Security Agent for iSeries, PSSecure, Remote Request Management (RRM) version 7.0 to handle access to specific objects within the Integrated File System (IFS).  Version 6.3 required two.

To see how this works, access the 'Work with Secured Entries' screen (Option 1 from the Remote Request Management main menu), and press F6=Add.  Enter the desired information for the secured entries parameters, and press F20=Edit Obj to edit the object information for the secured entry.  In the window that opens, enter the path followed by the wildcard string "*.*".

In the example below, the rule shown will give the user access to all of the files in the /HOME/JOHN directory and any subdirectories under that path.

Work With Secured Entries

User . . . . . . . . . . . . . : JOHN
Network . . . . . . . . . . . : *ALL
Operation . . . . . . . . . . : FILE_CREATE
Object Path . . . . . . . . . : /HOME/JOHN/*.*
Action . . . . . . . . . . . . : *PASS
Swap Profile . . . . . . . . . : Name
Secure Status . . . . . . . . : Y
