symptom
Error found on *N command label '12 ' not valid when sending an alert to VSM.

cause
When sending an alert to VSM the "Message Text" field must have single quotes around the word $MSGTEXT. (ie '$MSGTEXT')

fix

Confirm that within the command PSCOMMON/PSESNDALR for the parameter "Message Text" the variable has been entered between single quotes.

Ex. '$MSGTEXT'
