symptom
Received 'modem initialization error' when setting up PSDetect to page.

fix
To troubleshoot the problem see the following steps:
1. Verify that the modem initialization string that is being used is correct for the modem. The modem initialization string can be found in the modem manual.
2. Make sure that the modem initialization string is indicated in the Modem initialization field of "Option 1 Work With Service Providers".
3. Verify that the communication port specified within the product is correct. Find the correct communication port to use by typing WRKHDWRSC *CMN on a Command Line. Then verify in the Paging System Defaults that the correct communication port is being used.
4. Make sure that the switches on the modem are set to the factory defaults. The factory default settings can be found on the bottom of the modem or in the modem manual.
5. Verify for the ZPSD line description that in the "Line Description field" Set Modem to Asycn command, is set to end. Do this by typing DSPLIND ZPSD on a Command Line.
