fix

The start and stop script can be modified to meet individual needs. Instructions for automating a UNIX environment are recommendations only.

We suggest that you create sub-directories below the main "PeopleSoft Breakin Scanner" directory for each instance of the scanner that needs to be run. The sub-directories will need to contain the start, stop, pwd_server.key and PID files for each instance.

An automated startup script would need to:

  1. Change(CD) to the sub-directory where the start script is located.
  2. Executing the start script will create the PID file within that directory.

An automated stop script would need to:

  1. Change(CD) to the sub-directory where the stop script is located.
  2. Executing the stop script within this directory, will stop that PID.

The key ingredients to starting and stopping the PeopleSoft Breakin Scanner are:

  1. Setting the Unix environment for the ORACLE_SID parameter.(local databases).
  2. Setting the INFILE parameter in the ".sh" file. This parameter can also be set in by a Unix environment variable.
  3. Setting a separate directory for each PID.

The 3-tier breakin scanner can be run for multiple app. servers on the same Oracle instance. There should be no problem with two scanners running on the same Oracle instance, as long as the four files mentioned above are kept in separate directories.
