symptom
Error: 'Please check the LDAP URL format.  It is not a valid URL.'

cause
The protocol section of the URL for the LDAP server (ldap://) is missing or incorrect.

fix
Use the following steps to correct the information in the LDAP URL field:

  1. Log on to the Administration Site.

  2. On the Administration tab, click Options.

  3. Click User Repository.

  4. In the LDAP URL field, type the URL of the LDAP server in the following:
           format:ldap://[servername or IP address]:389

  5. Click UPDATE.
