The VigilEnt Policy Center (VPC) application uses a logon account to Microsoft SQL Server for database access. Use the following steps to create a new password if the current password is lost or changed:
- Open Microsoft Windows Explorer.
- If the default directory is used during installation, click
c:\Program Files\PentaSafe\VigilEnt Policy Center\server
. If another directory path was created, locate the server folder. - Open the
db.properties
file in Microsoft Notepad. - On the line beginning
default.Password=
, change the text following the first equal (=) character tojEFdIA2W5h4=
. - The Microsoft SQL Server database administrator must now change the password for the VPC database user to
temppw
. - Load the Service Manager, and then restart the VigilEnt Policy Center service.
- Log on to the VPC Administration Site, and then click Administration.
- Click Options, and then click Database.
- Change the VPC Microsoft SQL Server logon password using
temppw
as the current password. The password should be updated in Microsoft SQL Server and in the VPC configuration files. - By default, this user ID is
vpc_user
. The name may have changed during installation.
