To manually remove the VigilEnt Security Agent for Windows on a full or partial install use the following steps.

  1. Click  Start |Settings | Control Panel and select Services (for Windows NT) OR  Click  Start | Settings | Control Panel | Administrative Tools and select Services (for Window 2000).
  2. Scroll down the list of Services and locate the following Services: 
    • VigilEnt Security Agent for Windows
    • VigilEnt Engine
    • VigilEnt Detect
    • NT Loader
  3. Right-click each service and select Properties.
  4. Select the General Tab and change the Startup Type to DISABLED.

  5. Reboot the machine.

  6. Once the machine is rebooted go to Windows Explorer and locate the %program Files%\Pentasafe install directory

  7. Delete the following folders:

    • NT Loader

    • RINSTALL

    • VigilEnt Engine

    • VSANT

    • WINDetect

  8. Click Start | Run and type Regedit.

  9. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Pentasafe and delete the following folders:

    • Loader

    • RINSTALL

    • VigilEnt Detect

    • VigilEnt Engine

    • VSANT

  10. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services, locate and delete the following folders:

    • NTLoaderService

    • VigilEnt Detect

    • VigilEnt Engine

    • PSNTAgent

  11. Close all open windows and reboot the machine. The product has now fully been removed.

**Please note that if the product is only partially installed you will not be able to find all of the listed folders to delete.
