Error: 'A data access error occurred (Error code 3121). Error source: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers Error information: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver] Timeout expired'.

cause
This can be caused if it is taking too long to communicate with the database and is timing out.

fix

To resolve this error, increase the timeout setting. The timeout is set by the registry.  To change, refer to the following steps:

  1. Click Start | Run and type Regedit.
  2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Pentasafe\VSOC\Core Instances\DatabaseTimeout and change the value from 120 to 240.
  3. Close Regedit.
