The Command Line Interface crashes when updating the Log on to... field from a Windows XP SP1 workstation .

symptom
Error:'Error loading server information from agent. HR=c0044a29' When Attempting to Update the Logon to Field Using the WORKSTATIONS Options via the Command Line Interface from a Windows NT SP6a machine.

symptom

Assistant Admins receive an error message when using the CLI to modify a user account's Log on to... field, which is done using the WORKSTATIONS option.  The command is as follows:

  • EA USER userid UPDATE WORKSTATIONS:workstation_name

When run from a Windows NT4 SP6a workstation, the following error is received:

  • Error loading server information from agent. HR=c0044a29

Running this command from a Windows XP SP1 machine crashs the Command Line Interface.

cause
This error message occurs because, when modifying a user account's Log on to... field using the WORKSTATIONS option, the CLI attempts to free the memory twice.

fix

Hotfix 29587 resolves this issue for Directory and Resource Administrator 6.60.

Hotfix 29587 ensures that the logonWorkstation property can be updated using the CLI using the WORKSTATIONS option of the USER command from a computer running Windows XP or Windows NT.

To install this hotfix, run the DRA66000_Hotfix29587.exe  file on each computer with the CLI installed.  By default, the setup program installs the CLI on the Administration server computer.

This hotfix modifies the EA.exe file on the Administration server computer.  By default, this file is located in the C:\Program Files\NetIQ\DRA folder.
