symptom
Unable to apply VigilEnt Security Manager Service Release 1 in a distributed installation. 

symptom
Receiving an error message that the install cannot locate the VigilEnt database.

cause
This is caused by an incorrect database server name found within the VigilEnt Security Server configuration utility.

fix

To verify the correct VigilEnt database server name, launch the VigilEnt Security Server Configuration Utility and perform the following steps:

  1. Click on the Database tab.
  2. Locate the field "JDBC Driver Database URL".  This field should contain the following string: 

jdbc:inetdae7:database server:1433?database=vigilent

Where database server is the actual NetBIOS name of the SQL server where the VigilEnt database is located.

If the server name is incorrect, change the server name and no other parameters.  Changing any other information in this field could cause problems with VigilEnt Security Manager.
