Can I restore the ActiveView configuration from an older version of Directory and Resource Administrator to a server running a later version?

Restoring the registry keys containing the ActiveView security configuration to a newer version of the software is not a recommended practice and is not supported. When upgrading Directory and Resource Administrator (DRA), there may be some rule translation performed automatically during the upgrade. To restore registry settings from an older version would not give Assistant Admins the benefits of the new rule translation and may cause the DRA server itself to fail.
Names of built-in ActiveViews, Roles and Assistant Admin groups have also changed in version 7.0 and later. The rename of the objects, as well as rule translation, is handled by the Setup program and thus restoring the security configuration from an older version is not recommended and may cause additional problems.
