fix

By default, when a user account that has an Exchange 5.5 Mailbox is sent to the Recycle Bin, the Mailbox is NOT modified.  The Mailbox still appears in the Global Address List (GAL) in Outlook.  In order to hide the Mailbox from the GAL when the user account is sent to the Recycle Bin, a pre-task trigger associated with the UserDelete operation can be configured to hide the Mailbox and update the attribute msExchHideFromAddressLists.

Beginning in Directory and Resource Administrator (DRA) version 7.5, the Exchange 2000/2003 Mailbox is disabled when a user account is sent to the Recycle Bin and it no longer appears in the GAL.  DRA 7.5 and later will still not hide an Exchange 5.5 Mailbox however.

note
Once the Mailbox is hidden, DRA will no longer be able to manage the Mailbox.  Therefore, if the Mailbox is hidden and the user is restored from the Recycle Bin, the Mailbox will NOT be available and it will not be visible in the Global Address List (GAL).  To make the mailbox available again, either manually un-hide the mailbox by un-checking the Hide from Exchange Address Lists toggle box on the Exchange Advanced tab or create a trigger on the UserUndelete operation using native ADSI to un-hide the mailbox.
