Error: 'You must change the name before the rename can be attempted.' when attempting to rename only the Pre-Windows 2000 Group Name field using the Web Console.

When attempting to rename a group using the 'Rename Group' task in the Web Console, Assistant Admins receive the following error message if they attempt to change only the "Pre-Windows 2000 Group name" field without changing the "Group Name" field:

You must change the name before the rename can be attempted

symptom

Assistant Admins can rename only the "Pre-Windows 2000" group name field using the 'Rename' task, when using the Directory and Resource Administrator MMC interface.

cause
The Web Console only checks the "Group Name" field to verify if a group is being renamed and does not allow the Assistant Admin to only update the "Pre-Windows 2000 Group name" field.

fix

This issue is resolved in Directory and Resource Administrator 7.0 and later.
