Error: 'java.lang.OutOfMemory'.

symptom
A 'java.lang.OutOfMemory' error occurs when trying to start VigilEnt Core Services.

cause
This error indicates too many VigilEnt Security Agent for Windows Detect alerts are being sent for VigilEnt Core Services to handle at one time.  The Program Files |Pentasafe |Core |EventQ folder size is too large.

fix

NOTE:  Before beginning the steps below stop the "VigilEnt Security Server Service" (or Core Services in versions prior to 4.0).

VSM 3.X:

  1. Using Windows Explorer locate the Program files |Pentasafe |Core |EventQ folder.
  2. Delete everything inside the EventQ folder.

VSM 4.X: 

  1. Using Windows Explorer locate the Program files |Pentasafe |VigilEnt Security Server |QAlert folder.
  2. Delete everything inside the QAlert folder.
