symptom
Error: "unable to connect to database. [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Cannot generate SSPI context".

cause
This error can occur if SQL Authentication is not enabled.

fix

To enable SQL Authentication follow the steps below after launching Microsoft SQL Enterprise Manager:

  1. Right-click the SQL server in the left tree pane and select properties.
  2. Click the Security tab.
  3. Select 'SQL and Windows' for the authentication method and click OK.
