fix

All of the auditing data in VigilEnt Audit Manager for Sybase is viewed and interpreted through the four data windows. Each of the four windows presents auditing data in a different way for a different purpose:

  • The Tabular Reports window displays tables of auditing data.
  • The Analysis window presents different interpretations of auditing data.
  • The Purge Audit Data window deletes unwanted auditing data.
  • The Export Audit Data window allows you to archive auditing data in a different location.

Any of the four data windows are accessed at any time through the tabs located at the top of each window.

Data Window Linking

The actual auditing data for each data window is the same; it?s just interpreted differently. For this reason, the four data windows are considered linked. This linking gives the data windows some very valuable qualities. The most important quality is that they share a common set of filters. The filters let you control which data to audit by allowing you to limit the size of a column. For example, if you want to view audit data for a certain user, you can  implement a filter to limit the username column to display data for just that user. The filters that are set in place for an audit report remain constant throughout the four data windows. When the filters are changed in one data window, they are changed for the other three data windows as well.

note
Although the filter set is shared among all members of a linked set, changes to the filter set are only implemented in each data window when the data is refreshed in that window.
