Resolution
Domain Migration Administrator 7.x
symptom
Error: '[7547]E20688: Failed to copy password from User1 to User1, hr=8007052d. Unable to update the password. The value provided for the new password does not meet the length, complexity, or history requirement of the domain'.
symptom
Attempted to synchronize the password of a migrated user, but the password of the source user account has not been changed since a previous synchronization/migration.
cause
The password that Domain Migration Administrator (DMA) is attempting to copy already exists in the password history of the target account, as a result of the initial migration/syncronization.
fix
Domain Migration Administrator (DMA) provides a way to prevent this error if the target account password has already been synchronized. In the Synchronize Passwords wizard, there is a checkbox for Ignore accounts that have newer passwords on the target domain. If this option is selected, and the password of the target account is already synchronized with the source account, then instead of returning an error, the password for that account will be unchanged and DMA will continue to process the next user.
If this happens, the Migration.log will state:
"The password for User1 will not be copied to User1 because the target password is newer"
