fix

The sequence in which you upgrade Directory and Resource Administrator (DRA) , Exchange Administrator (ExA)  and File Security Administrator (FSA) is important. For example, if you deploy user interfaces before you upgrade the Web Component, the MMC interface will not be able to connect to the old version of the Web Component, and you may receive incorrect diagnostic data. To prevent compatibility issues, upgrade DRA, ExA, and FSA components in the following order without interruption:

  1. Primary Administration server.
  2. Secondary Administration servers, if any.
  3. Web component, if on a server other than your primary Administration server

In addition, if you have a Multi-Master Set, you cannot synchronize secondary Administration servers until you upgrade all secondary servers to the same version as the primary Administration server.

You can update user interfaces on client computers any time after you finish upgrading the Administration servers and Web component server (if any).

note

It is also recommended to stop the MCS Administration Server Service and the Internet Information Service before performing the upgrade.
