fix

It is possible to change the location of the agent or central computer (Consolidator pre 5.x) queue files by following the steps below:

  1. Stop the NetIQ Security Manager service (OnePoint for pre 5.1)

  2. Copy all queue and cache files from the current location (the default is):

    (Security Manager 5.1 and later)
    \Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\NetIQ\Security Manager\<config group>

    (Pre Security Manager 5.1)
    \Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Mission Critical Software\OnePoint\<config group>

to the new path specified in step 5 below.

  3. Open registry editor and navigate to the following:

    (Security Manager 5.1 and later)
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE | SOFTWARE | NetIQ | Security Manager | Configurations | <Name of the Configuration Group> | Operations

    (Pre Security Manager 5.1)
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE | SOFTWARE | Mission Critical Software | OnePoint | Configurations | <Name of the Configuration Group> | Operations

  4. Double-click DataDirectory string value, in the right pane.

  5. Enter the appropriate path in the 'Value data' box and close regedit.

  6. Restart the NetIQ Security Manager service (OnePoint pre 5.1).

note
For Security Manager 5.5 and greater, the location of the queue and cache folder is now secured by default.  If the location of this folder is changed, then the permissions on the new folder need to be changed to just Administrators and SYSTEM with modify permissions for both.

note
Warning: Using the Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. NetIQ cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be resolved. Make sure that you backup your Registry prior to making any changes.
