Resolution

fact
Directory and Resource Administrator 6.50

fact
Microsoft Exchange 5.5

symptom
Cloned accounts have an SMTP address of the template account's firstname and lastname.

symptom
Cloning an account with an Exchange 5.5 mailbox, using the CLI, results in the cloned account having an SMTP address that has the template account's first name and last name.

cause
This issue results because the firstname and lastname fields cannot be specified when cloning a user via the CLI.

When cloning an account with a mailbox via Directory and Resource Administrator (DRA) 6.5 and prior, the firstname and lastname fields cannot be specified.  In which case, the firstname and lastname of the clone account is taken from the template account.  As a result, the SMTP address for the clone account is firstname_of_template.lastname_of_template02@mail.com if a proxy generation rule is enabled that uses the firstname and lastname fields.

fix

To resolve this issue in Directory and Resource Administrator (DRA) 6.5 and prior, a script is available on the knowledge depot that will parse out the fullname field that is specified in the CLI command, and populate the firstname and lastname field.  The script is called populate_firstname_lastname.vbs, and can be found in the following location:

https://www.netiq.com/support/dra/extended/knowledgedepot/default.asp

The CLI in DRA 6.6 now includes switches to enter the firstname and lastname fields.
