Error: [7301]E21123: Failed to create CN=user in domain. hr=80070005 Access is denied.

symptom
Error occurs in the Migration.log. The agent status screen during the user/group migration states 'Agent is not running'.

cause
Although DMA doesn't dispatch an agent for User and Group migrations, it does run an agent process locally. This appears to be caused by the Domain Migration Administrator Agent service running on the local DMA machine.

fix

To resolve this issue:

  1. Open 'Services'
  2. Stop the 'Domain Migration Administrator Agent' Service
  3. Close 'Services'
  4. Run DMA

NOTE: Do Not start the DMA service while in 'Services'. DMA will start the service when the user migration process begins.
