Resolution

goal
Does EMCLI DIRSYNC update target Contact properties if the source object is modified?

fact
Exchange Migrator 1.x

fact
Exchange Migrator 2.x

fix

EMCLI Dirsync does not update individual target Contact properties, if objects are modified on the source after the original synchronization.  If EMCLI DIRSYNC mail-enables (Merges) an existing target account, existing information is left alone unless it is blank.  If the property is blank on the target and not on the source, then EMCLI DIRSYNC will update the target property.

note

During a long term phased migration, it may be a good idea to place an 'all object change freeze' on the Exchange 5.5 source environment. Otherwise you may need to manage all property updates manually on both source and target objects.  The only other current option is to manually delete the corresponding target Contact, make the modification to the source object, and run EMCLI DIRSYNC with the /cleartables option to recreate the target Contact with all newly modified properties.
