Resolution

fact
Domain Migration Administrator 7.x

symptom
sAMAccountName is used to populate the CN and Display Name of the migrated account.

cause
When you migrate from NT 4 to Active Directory without modeling, the NT SamAccountName becomes the CN of the target account.  The NT Full Name becomes the Display name of the target account. If you import data for modeling, then migrate a user with the checkbox Migrate data using modeling database as source selected, then the NT Full Name becomes the CN and the Display name of the target account.

fix

This is by design. However, if you would like to have the CN populated with the NT Full name instead follow the steps below:

  1. Select Objects wizard to select the users into the project.
  2. Run the Modeling: Import Data wizard to enable database modeling.
  3. Select the Migrate data using modeling database as source  checkbox User Migration wizard.

note

Importing data for modeling is not necessary for migration.  It is primarily there if you want to change the naming convention of objects that you migrate, or migrate objects to different OU's.
