Resolution

fact
Domain Migration Administrator 7.x

symptom
The dial up connection is using the user name of the logged in account instead of a value that was in the dial up connection before the migration and security translation.

symptom
The user account and password listed in a Dial-up Connection on a workstation are changed after logging in with the target account.

cause

DMA does not translate security on Dial-up Connections within 'Network and Dial-up Connections'.  Modifying the Dial-up connection would require the user password.  For security purposes, DMA does not have access to the user password, only the password hash.

fix

The new user should enter the information the first time they run the connection.

note

The Dial-up Connection information is stored in the following registry locations:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\REMOTEACCESS

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\REMOTEACCESS

HKEY_USERS\<username>\REMOTEACCESS

When translating security, DMA modifies the security settings of the registry but does not change any of the values in these keys.
