Resolution

fact
Directory and Resource Administrator 6.x

symptom
Error: 'The specified local group does not exist.' when attempting to remove a user account from a global group.

cause
The above error message is a result of the action performed outside of Directory and Resource Administrator (DRA).  The user account was removed from the global group using as Active Directory Users & Computers or other third party tools, as a result the DRA server will be unaware of the change until the next Accounts Cache Refresh occurs.  Note: The error message incorrectly states that the group type is local instead of global.

cause
This is a result of incorrect message text in DRA's message dll.

fix

The incorrect error message has been corrected in the latest version of Directory and Resource Administrator.  To update the cache on the DRA server, so that its aware of the recent changes made to the group , please perform the following steps:

  1. Launch the Directory and Resource Administrator MMC interface.
  2. Expand the Configuration node and select Managed and trusted domains.
  3. Highlight the domain in question and select Refresh accounts cache from the menu.
  4. Click Yes to confirm the cache refresh.
  5. Click Ok on the next information dialog box.

This issue is resolved in Directory and Resource Administrator 6.60 and later.
