Resolution

fact
Domain Migration Administrator 7.x

symptom
Unable to log on to the desktop using a migrated user account.

symptom
Desktop hangs when logging in with a migrated user account.

cause
Part of the source account profile may have been pointing to a server that has been taken offline. When the target account attempts to log in, it is unable to locate the server and the logon does not complete. You should find the path to the server listed in the migration log as a TS or Roaming profile path even if the account does not seem to have this profile set in the current AD.

fix

There are a couple of possible solutions to this issue.

  1. Disconnect the network cable of the workstation.
  2. Log in to the cached profile.
  3. Open the User Profiles tab on that machine.
    1. Select the profile and Change Type to Local.

Another solution would be to bring the old server back online so the account can access it's profile. Then possibly follow the steps outlined above for making the profile local.
