Can the Built-in roles be modified?

The Built-in roles, within Directory and Resource Administrator, cannot be modified.  However, these roles can be cloned and the cloned Role can be modified. To Clone a Built-in Role, perform the following:

1. Launch the MMC interface, while connected to the Primary DRA server and logged on as an Assistant Admin with, at minimum, Built-in Security Role.
   
2. Expand ActiveView management node.
   
3. Expand the Collections container.
   
4. Select the desired Built-In Role in the center pane and select Clone from the tools menu.
   
5. In the 'Copy Role' dialog window, enter a name for the new role and click Finish
