An error is received when a migrated user attempts to log on to a migrated Windows NT 4 computer.

symptom
Error: 'There is no domain controller to authenticate you.'

cause
This is a network operating system issue that is outside the scope of Domain Migration Administrator.

fix

Suggested troubleshooting steps are as follows:

  1. Verify that the PDC emulator is running and available for authentication in the target domain.

  2. Verify that the WINS server used by the migrated workstation has the correct IP address for the PDC emulator in the target domain.

  3. Obtain the dctlog.txt file from the workstation that was migrated with Domain Migration Administrator.
