Can the Directory and Resource Administrator MMC client be installed on an NT4 machine?

fix

Yes, the  Directory and Resource Administrator (DRA) MMC Client can be installed on NT4 systems as long as it meets the prerequisites detailed in Chapter 1 of Administration Installation Guide.  Some of the prerequisites are:

  • If you use Windows NT 4.0 SP6a or later, install ADSI.
  • NetBIOS protocol support.
  • Microsoft Management Console 1.1 or later.
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or later with the Typical set of components.

If you plan to use ExA functions in the MMC interface, install Microsoft Outlook 97 or later with the Microsoft Outlook Collaborative Data Objects file (cdo.dll). The cdo.dll file is an optional file in Outlook 2000. To install the file, run the Outlook 2000 setup program, and select the 'Collaborative Data Objects' option.

In addition, make sure the account, under which the installation is being performed, is a member of the local Administrators Group on the workstation that is receiving the MMC Client.
