Resolution

fact
Exchange Migrator 1.x

fact
Exchange Migrator 2.x

symptom
The custom recipient is not deleted from the source when undoing a migration.

cause

This will occur for the following reasons:

  • The option Delete source custom recipients when undoing a migration was not selected.
  • The EM console machine does not have the correct version of DAPI.dll.
  • DAPI is unable to access Exchmem.dll.

fix

If you have accounts that are already affected, you will need to delete the Custom Recipient manually.

If the option to delete the source CR was not selected during your migration options:

  1. Open Step 3: Specify Migration Options.
  2. Continue through the wizard to 'Maintaining Object References'.
  3. Select Delete source custom recipients when undoing a migration.

To verify the version of DAPI.dll

  1. Open Windows Explorer.
  2. Click Search.
  3. Search for DAPI.dll.
  4. Verify that none of the DAPI.dll versions are 6.0.4417.
  5. If you have not done so already, Install Exchange 2000 SP2 on the EM console.
  6. If you have already applied SP2,  or SP3 to the Exchange 2000 tools install, you should have version 5.5.2653.23. SP 4 (the Exchange 2003 tools install a later version which should also suffice).
  7. Then copy the version 5.x or 6.x (not 6.0.4417) from another location on the same machine.

If the 'Delete custom recipients' was selected and the DAPI.dll is the correct version

  1. Open Windows Explorer.
  2. Click Search.
  3. Search for Exchmem.dll.
  4. Copy Exchmem.dll to Winnt\System32 directory.
