Assistan Admins experience poor performance when managing accounts using the Directory and Resource Administrator MMC interface.

symptom
Various operations, such as creating new user accounts and updating existing user account properties, may take an extended period of time.  The MMC interface appears to be in a state of constant activity and then eventually completes the requested task.

cause
One possible cause for poor performance during create or update operations is the way DRA executes policy matching.  When the security model includes hundreds of naming convention policies, processing them causes the delay.

fix

Hotfix 12982 improves performance when managing objects in a large environment.  If your security model includes several hundred policies, apply this hotfix.  If you experience slower than expected performance when managing accounts through the MMC interface, such as creating user accounts and updating user account properties.

To install this hotfix, run the DRA64000_Hotfix12982.exe  file on the Administration server computer.

This hotfix modifies the following files on the Administration server computer:

• EaObjPrimitives.dll
• EaPolicy.dll

By default, these file are located in the Program Files\NetIQ\DRA folder.
