Resolution

fact
Domain Migration Administrator 6.x

fact
Domain Migration Administrator 7.x

symptom
Receiving a message that the username already exists, when trying to migrate a user.

symptom

[7124]W13415: sourceusername - already exists.

symptom
[7124] E29437: sourceusername - already exists.

cause
This error message means that the option in the Migration wizard to 'Ignore conflicting accounts and don't migrate' was selected, and that Domain Migration Administrator (DMA) found a conflicting account during the migration.  Based on this setting, since the target account already exists, the source account will not be migrated. To determine the cause of the conflict, you may want to identify the account that is causing the migration conflict.  In some cases where this message was observed, it may be difficult to find the conflicting account in the target domain.  Search for the CN and the SAM AccountName.  An account with the same SAM AccountName may exist in the target domain, but with a different CN.  DMA's conflict check is based on the the SAM AccountName, not the CN.  In this context, this error message may occur by migrating groups with the same name from multiple source domains with the option to 'Migrate data using modeling database as source' selected.

fix

If you do want to update the existing account with the properties of the account you are migrating, run the Migration wizard again and select Replace and update conflicting accounts.  If you want to create an account with a different name, if a conflicting account is found, select the Rename conflicting accounts... options.
