During validation, for any Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server targets:
- Exchange Migrator (EM) connects to the target Exchange Server and requests the Exchange Server's DNS server value.Â
- To obtain the DNS value EM makes an LDAP call that queries the Exchange server for the property "networkAddress".Â
- This is a multivalue.Â
- The value with "ncacn_ip_tcp:" prepended indicates the DNS name of the Exchange server. If this value is not available, then the DNS validation will fail.
- EM will then ping the value.
- This name will need to be ping-able from the EM console in for the migration to continue past the DNS validation portion of the migration. If the ping fails, then there is most likely a problem with DNS configuration. Please refer to Microsoft Knowledge Base for informatoin on resolving DNS name resolution issues.Â
