Resolution

fact
Directory and Resource Administrator 6.50

symptom
Directory and Resource Administrator incorrectly sets the Associated Administrative Group of a new contact to the First Administrative Group established in Exchange 2000.

symptom
When creating a new mail-enabled contact in the Directory and Resource Administrator MMC interface, the Associated Administrative Group is set to the First Administrative Group established in Exchange 2000, regardless of which one is chosen by the Assistant Admin.

cause

This issue occurs during the ContactCreate process. DRA attempts to set the specified administrative group prior to the actual creation of the email address.  This fails internally as the object does not exist yet and, as a result, the mailEnable call made by DRA during the creation process then sets the Associated Administrative Group to the First Administrative Group.

fix

Hotfix 12442 ensures that the DRA server correctly sets the Associated Administrative Group property for mail-enabled contacts and user accounts. If your environment includes an Exchange 2000 server configured with multiple administrative groups, apply this hotfix.

To install this hotfix, run the DRA65000_Hotfix12442.exe file on each Administration server computer.

This hotfix modifies the following files on the Administration server computer:

  • McsContactOperations.dll
  • McsOperationsCommon.dll
  • McsUserOperations.dll
  • X2KHelper.dll

By default, these files are located in the C:\Program Files\NetIQ\DRA folder.
