symptom
The NetIQ GPA Server option is disabled during the install.

cause
There are two possible causes for this issue:
  1. Microsoft SQL 2000 or MSDE 2000 is not present.
  2. SQL 2000 is installed but might not be the default instance of SQL.


fix
If the first scenario causes the issue, install SQL 2000 or MSDE 2000 before performing the NetIQ GPA Server setup.

If the issue is caused by the second scenario and more than one instance of SQL server is installed (SQL 7.0 and SQL 2000, for example), ensure that SQL 2000 is the default instance of SQL.

MSDE 2000 can be found on the Office XP CD in the folder called MSDE 2000.
