symptom
The Directory and Resource Administrator MMC and Web Console clients cannot locate the DRA server while running over a CheckPoint 4 VPN connection.
cause
The cause of this issue was that CheckPoint 4 does not handle 'Run As' credentials. Typically when connecting via a VPN session, users log into their laptop machines with local machine credentials and then the user does a 'Run As' and runs the MMC or web console as a domain account.
fix
The issue is resolved by upgrading the VPN client to CheckPoint 5. The CheckPoint 5 VPN client allows 'Run As' credentials to be utilized through a VPN session while the CheckPoint 4 client did not.
