How do I completely uninstall and reinstall Exchange Migrator?

fact
Exchange Migrator 1.x

fact
Exchange Migrator 2.x

fix
  1. Uninstall Exchange Migrator (EM) via Add/Remove programs. (Using this method will allow you to uninstall the databases too.)
  2. Uninstall MSDE or Microsoft SQL Server.
    • Be very sure that you are not sharing the database with any other applications.  See the Verify Note below.
  3. Delete the Exchange Migrator Folder. (%root%\program files\netiq)
  4. Delete the MSSQL7 folder. (Normally located at %root%)
  5. Install Microsoft SQL Server if you are using it, otherwise, skip this step.
  6. Start the install of Exchange Migrator and let it install MSDE.
  7. Rename the database to something you have not named it before (for example: 'EMA2' or 'EMA3').

note
Do not install MSDE or SQL 7.0 via Windows Terminal Services (WTS).  This includes the Exchange Migrator install of MSDE.  If you already have MSDE installed on a remote machine, then you can install Exchange Migrator via WTS on that same machine.

note
WARNING: By performing the steps above, you will delete all projects and references to previously migrated objects.

note

Verify:To verify that the SQL or MSDE database is not being used for applications other than Exchange Migrator, you may review the database information using the SQL Server Enterprise Manager.
