Resolution

goal
Should I specify the Server Consolidator agent to run on the source, target, or other machine?

fact
Server Consolidator 7.1

fix

The Migrate Files, Folders and Shares wizard in Server Consolidator allows you to specify the machine that is to run the DMA/SC agent.  It is generally recommended to run the agent on the source or target machine, whichever computer is less busy or more powerful.  Although you can specify a machine other than the source or target, this is usually not recommended unless there is a reason for doing so.  When migrating data to a cluster server, you must run the agent on a computer running the Windows 2000 Advanced Server operating system.
