Error: 'The MAPI profile 'profilename' is not valid.  The mailbox associated with this profile may no longer exist, or you may not have permissions to access the mailbox with the provided credentials.  You must specify an alternate profile.  For more information about MAPI profiles, see Help.  Unknown error: rc=87, MessageNumber = c0045212.'

cause
The source and/or target MAPI profiles do not have Windows NT Password Authentication set as the Logon network security.

fix

Adjust the settings that are placed for Logon network security. Please refer to the following steps:

1. On the Start menu click Settings | Control Panel | Mail.
   
2. Click Show Profiles.
   
3. Click the the Source or Target profile  (the profile which is producing this error).
   
4. With the correct profile highlighted, click Properties.
   
5. On the Properties screen, highlight Microsoft Exchange Server, and click Properties.
   
6. Click the Advanced tab of the Microsoft Exchange Server properties screen.
   
7. The Logon network security should be set to NT Password Authentication.
