ERROR : 'Failed to get agent interface on <DRA_server_name>, hr = 800706ba'.
When attempting to check the status of the agent service using EAAgentUtil.exe, the following error occurs:
- ERROR : failed to get agent interface on <DRA_server_name>, hr = 800706ba
The client hangs and will not connect to the Administration server, when Assistant Admins attempt to use any of the Directory and Resource Administrator clients on some workstations. The clients function correctly from other workstations, especially those in a different site.
The issue occurs when the 'NetIQ DRA Agent' service on a domain controller is corrupt. Those stations on which the user interfaces fail, are attempting to locate the Administration server by contacting the corrupt agent. Those that are able to connect are referencing an agent on another domain controller.
The issue is resolved by using EAAgentUtil.exe to uninstall and then reinstall the agent on the domain controller in question.
