Resolution

goal
What happens to the Directory and Resource Administrator (DRA) MMC if the DRA server were to go down unexpectedly?

fact
Directory and Resource Administrator 6.x

fix
In the event that the DRA server becomes unavailable, the client will suspend and wait for the DRA server to become available.  If a client requests an operation to be performed while the server is down, an error will occur on the client machines as follows:
'There was an error connecting to the DRA server.  This error occurs if your account cannot be authenticated by the domain in which the Administration server is running or if the server is not running at all.'

Once the DRA server becomes available, the client will continue to process the requested operation as if the server was never unavailable.
