How do you move Domain Migration Administrator (DMA) information to a new console?

There are two possible ways to move the DMA data. The first is preferred; the second is not supported.

Preferred Method

  1. If a project exists, select the project, right-click it, and select Export. DMA prompts you for the an export destination folder in which to store the project information. 
  2. Specify the export destination project folder.
  3. Run the Create Migration Project Wizard to import the project from the folder you specified in Step 2.

Unsupported Method

  1. Back up the
    • Protar.mdb file in C:\Program Files\NetIQ\DMA
    • Project database, in C:\Program Files\NetIQ\DMA\Projects\<Name_of_Project>.
  2. After the new DMA console is installed on the new computer, copy the Protar.mdb and the Project folder to new console under the DMA folder. This unsupported method overwrites all projects and migration mappings stored on the new DMA console.
