fix

Do not use Domain Migration Administrator (DMA) to migrate Exchange, SQL or other application servers. Doing so may cause serious problems with the application Service Account. Consult the documentation of the specific application for details about migrating a server from one domain to another. and test the migration thoroughly in a test environment before migrating the server or translating security in the production environment.

When DMA migrates a server, it translates security on ACL's, such as NTFS permissions and share permissions.  However, DMA cannot change any permissions within the application.  Some applications refer to the domain name or server name when configuring permissions, thus DMA cannot change these application specific permissions for the new domain name.

The following is from the DMA Help topic, "How DMA Migrates and Renames Computers": "Do not attempt to rename any computer that is running software that depends on the computer name, such as Microsoft Exchange or SQL Server.  If you rename a computer that runs SQL Server, SQL Server may not work properly. For more information about renaming SQL Server or Microsoft Exchange computers, consult Microsoft TechNet or Product Support Services."
