Resolution

goal
Why are the some of the group options grayed out in the Group Option window of the Migrate Machine Local Groups wizard?

fact
Server Consolidator 7.1

fix

The options 'Migrate the members of the groups selected', 'Leave group members in original containers' are not available from Server Consolidator. However, putting the members in the local groups on the target server is accomplished by DMA as follows:

1. Migrate machine local groups to a new server with Server Consolidator.

2. Translate security on the target computer using DMA. Select the check box for 'Local groups' on the 'Translate Objects' screen in the 'Translate Security Settings' wizard. Then, for all users and global groups that have been migrated with DMA, the appropriate members will be added to the new local group on the target server. DMA uses the mapping between source and target users and groups that have been migrated with DMA to accomplish this.

'Migrate group SIDs to target domain' does not apply because SID history only applies to a target domain in native mode, not to the local SAM of a server.
