Resolution

fact
Domain Migration Administrator 7.1

symptom
Error: '%1 is not a valid win32 application' received from the Domain Migration Administrator agent during computer migration.

symptom

DCTLog.txt contains:

[7019]W10262: Failed to start the agent service. StartService('OnePointDomainAdminService') rc=193  %1 is not a valid Win32 application.

symptom
[7006]W10722: Failed to install agent on \\computername,rc=193   %1 is not a valid Win32 application.

symptom
[7005]E20949: Failed to launch agent on \\computername,hr=800700c1   %1 is not a valid Win32 application.

cause
This can be caused when a file named 'Program' interferes with the agent installation. The file named 'Program' usually has no extension and is located on the C:\ drive of the computer that you are attempting to migrate.

fix

Please try renaming this file (at least temporarily) for the computer migration. Once this file is renamed or removed, the agent should be able to complete it's installation and migration task.  Another possible resolution is to change the forward lookup zone from the source to point to the AD integrated DNS server on the target rather than a source BIND.
