Sizing your databases for Security Manager is an important step in planning a deployment. The number of computers that will be monitored, along with the type of computers being monitored, have a direct affect on the database requirements.

To help determine the intial size of a database, NetIQ has a database sizing utility that will ask you for the following information:

  • How many servers and workstations do you plan to monitor?
  • How many rules will be deployed to each of these computers/agents?
  • How many events are expected to be collected?

After you provide this data, an approximate value will be calculated for the correct database size.

You can download the database sizing utility from the following link:
Note:  Microsoft Excel is required.
