Environment

NetIQ AppManager 6.x
NetIQ AppManager 7.0.x

Situation

What is the best way to change and save the password for the NT account being used for the NetIQ services on multiple target Servers?
NTAdmin_ModifyServiceConfig Fails with 'Service: NetIQccm and NetIQmc; Attempt to Change its Configuration Failed for the Following Reason: nq_uudecrypt Failed'
Error: Attempt to Change its Configuration Failed for the Following Reason: nq_uudecrypt Failed

Resolution

To change and save the password for the NT account being used for the NetIQ services on multiple target Servers:

  1. Change the password for the NT account (this can be done remotely by using the NTAdmin_ChangePassword knowledge script or can be done locally).
  2. Use the NTAdmin_ModifyServiceConfig knowledge script to push the change to the target Servers.
  3. Restart the NetIQ Services using the AMAdmin_RestartNetIQServices from the KS (Knowledge Script) Depot.

Cause

The NTAdmin_ModifyServiceConfig knowledge script does not change the password, but once the password has been changed, will push out the new password and save it on the target Server.
